Building communities - not just homes. Lord Andrew Mawson addresses delegates at CHC's annual housing partnership conference, Nov 2009

Lord Mawson has been involved in the housing association movement for over 30 years. He is a founding member of Poplar Harca, a £300m housing company in east London that has connected social housing with community development. He is quoted as saying “It is time for the housing movement to re-visit its entrepreneurial roots – we need to create positive developments for communities instead of more policy and rhetoric… We are not just building houses, we are building communities.” Lord Mawson will outline his reasoning by highlighting a number of ground breaking projects that he has been involved with.
