Antonia Forte appointed Chief Executive of Cynon Taf Community Housing Group.

Cynon Tâf Community Housing Group has announced the appointment of Antonia Forte to the position of Chief Executive from April 1st.

Ms Forte succeeds David Lewis, who has retired after over 30 years service with the organisation.

The Group is the result of a merger of Cynon Tâf and Pontypridd and District Housing Associations in 2007, and incorporates the RCT Care and Repair Agency.

Dr Craig Gurney Chair of the Board commented “I am very pleased that Antonia has accepted the position. She has been the Group`s Deputy Chief Executive for the last three years, so this appointment gives us continuity and puts us in the best position to face the challenges ahead”

The new Chief Executive brings a wealth of experience and is excited by the thought of heading up the group “Prior to merger I had been the Chief Executive of Pontypridd and District Housing Association for sixteen years, so I am aware of the issues that face our communities. My aim is for the Group to work in partnership with the Local Authority and Cwm Taf Health Board so we can continue to make a significant contribution in dealing with the housing and community issues in Rhondda Cynon Taf”.

The Group employs over 70 staff and is based at Navigation Park in Abercynon.

The coming year sees the start of the construction of thirty four houses on the site of the former Towers and Beacons flats in Hirwaun as well as several other projects in the pipeline.

Ms Forte added “My aim is to ensure that the Group takes full advantage of any investment opportunities that arise, the projects this year will see £6 m coming into the Borough and demonstrating Cynon Tâf Community Housing Group’s commitment to investing in our communities”
